(More customer reviews)I juice a lot of oranges on a regular basis. I have tried manual reamers and electric juicers. I was excited to use one which could apply a lot of pressure quickly and with less effort. The only problem, and it is a big one, is that the juicer leaves a large portion of the flesh unsqueezed. When I use an electric juicer/reamer, there is very little flesh left. With this juicer, the top does not come down far enough onto the removable cup cap to squeeze the whole orange. As a result, you will waste about 25% of the juice. This problem is so obvious that I can take the juiced halves and squeeze more juice out with my bare hand. I will be seeking a refund. I am very disappointed. I can't believe this product is on the market with such poor performance.

Wheat Grass Juicer Review

(More customer reviews)When I first bought the juicer, I cleaned it with soap and water per the instructions. I put an apple in to see what would happen, and it made 1-1/2 pure apple silver juice. It must have been the rust. Then next time I washed it again, coated it with oil, I put a carrot and an apple and I got liquid silver pulp coming out. I washed it YET again then tried to put wheatgrass through it, and again silver-wheatgrass juice. If you are going to buy a wheatgrass juicer, buy an electric one, or one that is made of plastic and metal that doesn't ooze silver liquid. It was a complete waste of fifty bucks; do yourself a favor and avoid this at all costs.

Sturdy bags made to fit the tub of your Jaffrey Cider, Fruit or Wine Press. You will want these for sure as you get more juice by using them. Just insert the bag into the tub and hang the excess over the sides. Grind your apples into the bag, fold over to complete the bag and put your pressing plug (plate) on top. When you apply pressure with the screw, the juice will filter out through the bag, giving you juice clear enough to drink, leaving the pomace of seeds, skins, and stems in the bag. Just empty the bag and use it over again. Wash with clear water when you're done and store for next year.

Norpro Stainless Steel Interchange Triple Juicer Review

(More customer reviews)I'll give it 5 stars for construction and finish, but only 1 star for design and functionality - that averages out to 3 stars. To put it bluntly, the darn thing just doesn't work very well.
The main problem is with the ribbed cones that are supposed to do the reaming and extract the juice - not only are the ribs too "dull", but the top is too rounded, so the fruit tends to slide off to the side when you push down on it, even if you twist at the same time. The unit is something of a "rattle-trap" as well - the cone sits loosely in the strainer, and the strainer sits loosely in the bowl, and even a slight misdirection of pressure can have unexpected consequences!
My old one-piece 69-cent plastic juicer, that I picked up at the supermarket, outperforms this thing by a wide margin. The plastic unit has sharp-edged ribs and a pointed tip, and extracts every last drop of juice with minimal effort. Guess I'll be sticking with that until something better comes along.

European Style Stainless Steel and Chrome Manual Citrus Press Review

(More customer reviews)Overall impression was that it was of fair quality, but unsuited to my needs. I have a lot of grapefruit to juice, and this is not a good tool for that job. The juicing dome, cup and presser cone were too small for all but the smallest grapefruit. Consequently, using this juicer left about 1/3 of the available juice behind. (I measured the volume the juicer squeezed out - then used a small electric juicer to extract the remaining juice. The first squeeze extracted about a cup. The second juicer extracted about half a cup.) Additional pressure did not help the situation because the part of the fruit with the juice was not getting pressed.
The results were much different with oranges. This press extracted virtually all of the available juice from medium-size oranges. Were I only dealing with small citrus, this press would probably have been quite satisfactory for moderate use.
I would characterize this as a satisfactory juicer for medium-sized oranges, lemons and limes for periodic use. It is not suitable for any but the smallest grapefruit, nor do I believe it would hold up under heavy use, but beyond its shortcomings as a grapefruit juicer, it may be all you need.

Weston Cast Iron Wheat Grass Juicer Review

(More customer reviews)It's a good juicer. It's heavy, but it's cast iron so it's expected. I use it in my dorm for wheatgrass that I grow and it's great. Just make sure you wash it immediately, you wouldn't want it to get rusty, right?
All the parts work well. It even has an attachable rubber "foot" so you don't scratch things or maybe it's for better grip. I'm a 19 year old girl and I can crank it just fine.
It's not beautiful but it gets the job done. :)
I'm going to try apples and celery and other fruits and veggies sometime.

While the Hurricane does take some elbow grease (manual labor), it's SO worth it! This thing can get juice out of darn near anything!
In comparison, the Lalanne Juicer took about 20 minutes to properly clean-up, while the Hurricane is less than a 3 minute clean-up! Its Stainless Steel construction is awesome and I know it will last a lifetime!

This manual wheat grass juicer is heavy duty, but has many down falls. You must assemble and re-assemble each time you juice. It must be cleaned and dried or it will rust,(this takes a lot of time). The paint is coming off after only a week. The bolts don't tighten well, and the juice leaks everywhere. It creates a huge mess and too much work for less than an oz of juice. It also seems to take tons of grass to get anything out of it. I regret buying this product.

New Z-Star Manual Portable Wheatgrass Juicer Review

(More customer reviews)I am partial to the masticating (rather than spinning centrifugal) juicers for reasons I won't go into here, so I went nuts shopping trying to fit my budget. I looked over this model quite a few times thinking it wouldn't be suitable for more than wheatgrass, or assuming it would be a lot of extra work.
Turns out that it is so easy to use I can't hardly believe more reviewers don't talk about it. Granted I chop the veggies, but to give you a frame of reference it's less effort to turn the handle than to tamp the veggies down the chute, and you have to do that even with an electric (not that either is hard). I could liken the manual/electric usage to driving manual/automatic transmission. I actually prefer this manual over the electric masticating I have used most days. Staying actively engaged makes it go by faster or something.
It is also extremely efficient. I have also used an Omega 8005 and feel like I not only saved money up front, but am spending less on veggies. As a daily juicer, that adds up. It's also lower pulp in the juice and less froth, the first a matter of taste the second a matter of shelf life. If you like the pulp, you can obviously add it back in.
As others have mentioned the pulp wants to drop into the juice container. There are about a hundred ways to easily work around this. My personal favorite is to put something under the container to raise it up a bit, allowing it to slide "out of range." Complaining about that seems to me about as petty as complaining you need an outlet for your toaster. It's really no big deal.
I have been extremely pleased with what it is able to juice. I am growing wheatgrass, but so far have fed it mainly apples, celery, and carrots.
I suspect this is the Green Star or Solo Star or whatever it's called these days with a crank instead of a motor. That is just a guess, based somewhat on the available "conversion kit" for electric model owners. Either way it is a terrific juicer and I'm glad I didn't fork over triple the price for an electric motor.
Update 11 1/2 months after buying:
I finally had something go wrong with this juicer. I was making peanut butter with the plug in the cap and it broke. I jumped on the Tribest web site, found a toll-free number, and in less than a minute I had someone from the company on the phone who replaced the part free of charge. They honored the 1 year warranty with no hassles even though I was pushing the thing pretty hard (I think the rep was surprised I had successfully made as much PB as I had with the plug in). BTW - the peanut butter this makes is amazing. It's actually capable of making creamy peanut butter, just leave the plug out of the front cap. ;)

We may use it 4 times a week for several weeks, or only on weekends for a month. It looks good, is sturdy, and is easy to clean. Place the orange or whatever in the holder, slowly press down on the paddle style handle, and its juice galore. For larger fruits or bigger oranges, lift the handle up, reposition the fruit carcass a little, one more squeeze and Bobs-your-uncle. We like the machine just fine.

Hamilton Beach 932 Commercial Citrus Juicer, Black Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this juicer after trying an orangex juicer that broke on the 4th orange I put through it. My Hamilton-Beach juicer has lasted through a whole bag now, so here's the scoop:
Good things:
1) Rack & pinion action effectively transfers the applied force to the squeezer. There's no off-axis force so you don't have to worry about the whole darn thing tipping over when you bear down.
2) Gratifyingly simple to disassemble and clean.
3) The metal grate's edges are machined smooth - - no worries about getting cut (one of the problems I had with the orangex product).
4) When you remove your juice glass, a drip cup swings into place to keep residual juice drippings off your countertop. That is a very user-friendly design element.
5) The mechanism does a good job of extracting all of the juice.
6) The resulting juice did not have any hint of strong citrus oil.
Other things:
For a product that bills itself as "professional grade", it seems like it could be easy to overpower & break something if you 'hang on the lever'. I would not be too overzealous about squeezing the last drops if dealing with a grapefruit or a really big orange, for fear of breaking something. But for lemons, limes, and standard size oranges it seems just fine.
While the unit doesn't weigh very much, it's pretty tall -- about 20" in its fully-down, storage position -- so storage may be an issue for some.
Overall:
I'm glad I got this one.

(More customer reviews)Let me start by saying that this juicer makes excellent juice and is a lot easier to use than the 25-year old Big OJ juicer that I was using. I squeeze oranges and tangerines for my woman and I each night. So I use the juicer every day and the better design of this juicer has led me to squeeze more fruit than before.
The big lever drives the top piston onto the fruit and with one motion an orange or tangerine half gets well squeezed leaving little juice left in the pulp.
But there are a few areas that quickly stand out as being parts that could be easily improved. Let me add here that I am a quality professional and I often see potential improvements in products that others don't seem to mind or notice--until it is pointed out to them. Nevertheless here are some things that hold this back from being a great product. The actual lever arm can wobble from side to side. A small change in the design and manufacturing would make the arm totally stable and probably even more effective. The bottom holder or drain where the fruit is placed has two pieces, one is shaped like a drain and the other is convex to match the shape of the plunger that squeezes the fruit. And these two pieces, the drain and the convex holder are loosely held together. At times the convex holder sticks to the fruit and is pulled up and away from the drain. The tolerance of the two parts has to be lessened and some kind of clicking mechanism needs to be put in here to keep the two in place. Once again I do not think this is a big deal, and a small change could solve the problem.
The drain also does not click onto the base and the paint shows some chipping. This is not a very high quality item because of these small details even though it does get the job done.
The final comment is that for most households this size is probably too big. I keep it under a counter and I have been told that I am the only one who will be bringing it up from under the counter to the top of the counter.
The product is good and works but a few small improvements could make this a great product.
