(More customer reviews)2 years after my original review the juicer is still working well. You will need a little more muscle to juice carrots if carrots are hard but the work is worth the juice you receive.
You get what you pay for is very real with juicers. I have been juicing for more than 10 years and have graduated from centrifical force juicers to masticating to the Green Power. It is everything it says it is. My family juices daily. This juicer is definitely quieter than all other juicers we have used. The juice has less pulp than other juicers we have used as well a better tasting juice (even with mediocre carrots). Cleaning the juicer is the easiest of all juicers we have had. (That's worth the extra bucks). If you're a serious juicer go to the top of the line. You won't be disappointed.

I have to admit, at first I thought it might be difficult, but this machine makes it really easy. I can put it together, juice a few ounces, and clean it within a few minutes. Its also a lot cheaper than many of the other juicers like it, but it works just as good if not better. Its also really small so it doesn't take up too much space in my kitchen. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to juice wheatgrass at home.

This is a brand new Dr. Squeeze wheatgrass juicer: the household model. This machine is designed to juice only wheatgrass, and it does it really well. The juicer is so simple that it can be used, cleaned and put back together in just a few minutes. Ease of use is the most important quality of any juicer or they will not get used! (More customer reviews)I have only had the Champion household juicer for about a month now but am using it daily and really like it! We have tried many different fruits and veggie drinks with much success. I usually make juice for the four of us every morning, and my kids love waking up to fresh tasty juices. We also have made sorbets for dessert--yum! My only negative experience so far is that while trying to make almond meal, the motor really heated up and started to smell. The heat from the motor affected the flavor of the small amount of almond paste I did create. I haven't tried any other nuts for fear of burning out the motor. If you mainly want great tasting fruit and vegetable juice, I would highly recommend it!

It's not too loud, it squeezes every little bit of juice out, and it's easy to clean. You just have to follow the directions and use only a small amount of wheatgrass at a time. But it goes through quite quickly and effortlessly.
So, if used correctly, this machine will give great results, and also works well with apples, mangos, grapes, and other soft fruits. Just remember to only use a small amount of produce or wheatgrass at a time! SMALL AMOUNTS!

(More customer reviews)I have been the proud owner of this juicer for the past two months and so far I can say it has been a joy to use this machine to make fresh fruit and vegetable juices, as well as, frozen fruit sorbets, nut butters and cold pressed oils (oil extractor unit is not included). There is no one size fits all juicer, but this juicer fits the bill for me, in that, I primarily use it for leafy greens and citrus fruits. I tend to get a higher yield when juicing cucumbers in my centrifugal juicer, however, since juice quality is of more importance to me than juice yield, I do not see that as a draw back. With a little improvisation and plenty patience, I am also able to make fresh cane juice in this wonder machine. If you really want to take your health to the next level I highly recommend juicing, and after doing considerable research I have found that this juicer is one of the best and most versatile on the market.

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Jack Lalanne Juicer from a major retailer and was thoroughly disappointed with its "inability" to juice much more than an apple so forget about wheatgrass (it went back that same day)! While the Hurricane does take some elbow grease (manual labor), it's SO worth it! This thing can get juice out of darn near anything!
In comparison, the Lalanne Juicer took about 20 minutes to properly clean-up, while the Hurricane is less than a 3 minute clean-up! Its Stainless Steel construction is awesome and I know it will last a lifetime!

This manual wheat grass juicer is heavy duty, but has many down falls. You must assemble and re-assemble each time you juice. It must be cleaned and dried or it will rust,(this takes a lot of time). The paint is coming off after only a week. The bolts don't tighten well, and the juice leaks everywhere. It creates a huge mess and too much work for less than an oz of juice. It also seems to take tons of grass to get anything out of it. I regret buying this product.

I'm not even sure if I need the soil, but I compost it so nothing goes to waste.
Cheap(er) and the juice comes out great!
I have 3 trays going all the time so my wife and I can juice each day with no pause.

1. Very compact: It takes less counter/table space than a small plate. Most of the electrics (except the L'Equip mini and the Waring JEX 328) are major space hogs.
2. Very efficient: Masticating juicers extract more juice than the centrifugal models. Perhaps more importantly, they do a better job of crushing tough plant cell walls and releasing enzymes - think minced garlic versus chopped garlic. (Whether or how much added health benefits this results in, depends on what you juice. It's hard to get good info on this, but plant enzymes typically help in breakdown and better absorption of nutrients.)
3. Cheap (Check out their Ebay listing - it's $10 cheaper over there.) If you don't want to drop upwards of $250 on an electric masticating juicer, or aren't sure whether you'll stick to it, this one's worth a try.
4. Easy to clean

1. The hopper's a bit small, which means you'll be reloading frequently. This seems to be the trouble with masticating juicers in general (including the electrics), but the Z-star manual juicer (also available on amazon, though at twice the cost) has a somewhat bigger hopper.
UPDATE: see effort section below.
2. As I haven't used this long enough, I can't say how durable it is, though it seems very tough and well-made. (The auger tip and the surface it crushes against are both stainless steel, and all the rest is polycarbonate.)
Juicing effort:

Turning the handle: Effortless for leafy veggies, very little effort for carrots and firm veggies, provided you cut them into smaller pieces first. Don't expect to be able to throw a whole carrot or radish in. The reviewer that claims that you need to be a weightlifter to turn this thing was funny, but wildly off the mark.
UPDATE: Curiously enough, on trying red cabbage, the juicer groans, esp. with largish pieces. I noticed that the juicing effort is quite sensitive to the size of the pieces - with smallish pieces, not only is less turning effort required, but the produce doesn't need pushing either. This lets you feed and crank the handle at the same time, making the process faster.
All in all, though, this idiosyncracy counts as a negative point, and I'm lowering my rating to 4 stars.
UPDATE 2: When juicing cabbage, drizzle a little bit of olive oil over the chopped cabbage - this completely eliminates the groaning (which happens due to friction between the rubbery leaves and the juicer body).
Cleaning: better than the electrics in this department because of fewer parts and simpler design. Cleanup is a major part of juicing effort, so I count this as a pro.
Cutting: For firm veggies, you'll have to cut them into smaller parts (no perfect julienne required; just a quick, sloppy chop would do.) Even so, this adds a little bit to the effort, so if you primarily want to juice firm veggies, you should look at an electric.
Setup: Very easy (again, from the simpler design).
