I've had an Acme 6001 for years and it has served me well. When it was time for a new juicer, I bought the Breville since it was such a "hot item".
Big mistake! Unless you want it to "keep up with the Joneses" and think having a big shiny juicer in your kitchen is more about prestige and less about health, then the Breville is for you.
Back to the Omega. The Omega 9000 makes pulp feel like a shirt. It's pretty dry.
Big up to Amazon & HealthNut for it's speedy pick up of the Breville and quick delivery of the Omega (2 days), which is actually well-designed and has good yield.
Now for the cons: carrot residue sticks to the bottom and along the periphery of the basket which goes inside the bowl. It took me a long time to scrub off. Maybe a filter will help, but I never had that problem with the Acme and it was built many moons ago in the 90's. If it wasn't for that design flaw, I'd give it another star.
One last thing. Make sure you process the fruit & vegetables in the right order. For some reason, if you put, say, cucumber and parsley first, before the carrot, the juicer will flip out and do a dance on the counter. I experienced this w/ the Acme as well. So go slow at first & read the tips about what to process first & how.

The juicer extracts the juice, and lets you enjoy the yummy juice without any pulp of any kind. I love pulp, but man, this lady is a great juicelady! The only problem I have with this machine is the cleanup. The machine is quite large. The worst part is cleaning the net container. Those who own this know what I'm talking about. I suggest you use a toothbrush when cleaning the net.

(More customer reviews)I've just finished drinking my first glass of carrot juice made with this juicer. I couldn't be more satisfied.

First of all it's very easy to assemble, disassemble and wash. I've had two other "under $50" juicers and have had trouble getting the stainless steel baskets in and out and remembering what order to assemble it - with this one it was a breeze.
Carrots are one of the harder textured food to juice. This machine was so quick and powerful I couldn't believe it, it took seconds!!!! I can't attest to whether it will continue to work, but for function and ease of use you can't beat it. It also does a good job of extracting all the juice out - the pulp was very dry.
Would recommend it if it were five times the price - I've never seen a juicer so inexpensive. This is the machine to buy if you've considered juicing, but were hesitant to invest the money. Also, makes a great additional juicer.

It does a good job most of the times, but when you start mixing soft and hard fruits and vegetables simultaneously and in a certain order, the unit will start vibrating to the point where the blade will make contact with the metal column where vegetables/fruits are introduced. The result: the maching will grind the blade and damage the performance of it. Try the following combination: apple, carrots, and grapes. Say bye bye to your blade.... (a $40 value).

I knew I shouldn't have bought this juicer, but the price was good and I was curious about how it would work (since no one on any of the sites I went on rated this), plus I am a first time juicer. Well, the first time I used it, the "juice" was a little thick, so of course I thought I did something wrong (maybe I should've added the orange last?). I juiced again tonight, and as the apple was coming out, there was no juice, but a thick white goop, the carrots came out okay. Again, the end product was a thick drink. Not impressed. The chute size is so-so, and it sounds like a hand vac. I didn't think there'd be that much negative things to say about this machine, but low and behold!
Why are there any stars at all?? Reasons: it introduced me to juicing (gotta start somewhere, might as well be the bottom goin' up!), it wasn't that hard to wash, and the machine was not stained after putting carrots through.
p.s. I'm keeping it b/c I despise having to wait in line to return anything, and this time of year is havoc (a week b/4 Xmas!)!

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these in 1977. And it's still in excellent condition after about a million (more or less) glasses of juice. What more can you ask?
Well, perhaps easier cleaning. Pulp gets wedged in the basket and you need a stiff brush to get it loose. Some dishwashers will do the trick, but you may end up scrubbing. Thus four instead of five stars.
If you need to make more than two glasses of juice, you'll probably have to stop and empty the basket of pulp before continuing. The Champion juicer spits out the pulp while juicing and might be a better choice for those who have large families.
Nevertheless, this Waring juicer (they bought out the old Acme brand) gets every drop of juice from your veggies and fruit. Don't even consider a cheaper juicer, as you'll pay the price in needing more produce to come up with a good glass of juice. Bon Apetit!

Mango: killed appliance.Update: 1/16/08. Bad news and good news:
The bad news is that the plastic latches are too weak.
I was juicing a mango and at at the end it gave a great shudder and the locking latches blew to bits!
The manual mentions mangoes and says only that they be peeled, I did nothing wrong.
The good news: I called up Hamilton Beach, and without fuss they arranged for a
free replacement ($5.50 shipping, that's ok).
While I was at it, I upgraded to the 67650 model, with metal latches, for $10.
So don't get this one, get the other one here:

(More customer reviews)The juicer is okay for every day use. I have a lot of lefovers from carrots that did not turn into juice. So I make carrot cakes out of them, FYI. The best thing about it is that is gets assembled pretty easily; it takes a little effort, however, to get the grinding piece off. My mother-in-law even wanted to take it to the store to ask for help before I came and showed her that she had to pull harder. I usually rinse the parts in the sink before I dish wash them. It is a matter of 5-10 minutes, maybe, to clean after yourself. This juicer saved us money; we do not buy any frozen juices any longer. What makes me unhappy is that it's fairly loud, I can't make the juice early in the morning before my jogging time. The neighbors downstars would not appreciate it. I'd not extremely loud though as those with higher power go, stll my daughter jumps every now and then if I turn it on without letting her know before hand. The plastice does stain from the fruit/veggies. I can't quite get it why they make it out of plastic, it looks a little cheap and worn out after a few uses. Over all, it's served us for 2+ years with no break. I am pretty pleased with the price and quality of it.

(More customer reviews)Back in the day I had the old Juiceman Jr., which did it's job. Well it gave out a few years ago and cleaning it was a pain. I did miss fresh juice though so I bought this a couple of weeks ago. I tell you what they have done a wonderful job, this is a very nice upgrade from the old design. A lot of refinements throughout the entire appliance. Stronger motor, two speeds, better looking and much easier to clean.
I defiantly recommend this and great price.

(More customer reviews)I read the reviews on this juicer and wondered why some gave rave reviews and others gave this juicer rotten reviews. Since most of the reviews were positive, I decided to take a chance and buy it. I'm glad I did.
The Decision - Out of all the top reviewed juicers on Amazon, Epinion, Best-Juicer-Reviews, and ConsumerSearch, this had the longest warranty (1 yr), highest horsepower motor (1.1 hp) and lowest price ($69). All of the top rated juicers have wide mouths (3+ in) and are dishwasher safe. This is why I bought it. The juicers I looked at were Breville BJE 200XL, 800 JEXL, BJE 510XL, Jack Lalanne power juicer and Hamilton Beach 67650.
The Good - It juices fast, it is easy to clean (5 min by hand, no dishwasher), and is inexpensive. Most of all, it saves me time. I could eat fast food (no more cooking and cleaning as this is dishwasher safe) without having to eat fattening drive-thru food. It is fast and nutritious.
The Bad - It is not cheap to operate because you waste a lot of food in the pulp, especially if you make juice from soft fruits and vegetables. If you are making juice from hard stuff, it will be very efficient. The pulp will be a fine, moist dust. There is very little waste. However, if you are making juice from soft fruit, it will make a lot of soft, mushy wasted pulp. This juicer is perfect for hard stuff like carrots and broccoli stems. For soft stuff like watermelon and spinach leaves, I'll use my blender instead. Or, you could try re-juicing the pulp to extract more juice out of it. Or you could do what I do to avoid wasting the juicy pulp: I feed my dog the pulp.
The Conclusion - The faults with this juicer are not faults with this particular model, but a fault with all centrifugal juicers (spinning knife blade used to juice). A masticulating juicer would produce less waste but would be much slower to operate. It takes a much longer time to make a cup of juice with a masticulating (grinding gears) juicer. A citrus juicer makes citrus juice only.
A perfectionist or very frugal person would probably opt for less wet pulp waste by buying a masticulating juicer such as an Omega 8005. A person with a busy lifestyle would probably prefer a fast juicer that is easy to clean like this one. A person who drinks citrus juice a lot would probably buy a citrus juicer. If you are making wheat grass juice, then buy a wheat grass juicer.
Depending on what you need, you may get a different juicer. However, for the price, it is impossible to get a better general purpose juicer. I will re-review this juicer in a year to give a report on it's durability.
