(More customer reviews)JK Adams makes fine wooden cutting boards. With the proper care, these boards perform well and provide a great cutting surface.
However, this board should not be called a "cutting board." Really it is a "carving board." The side shown in the picture has a large groove around the edge. This is great for cutting cooked meat and the like, but it takes away from the cutting area. The reverse side has an imprint for a roast or poultry. Both sides are good for carving meat, but neither provides a nice surface for cutting and chopping.

This two-sided carving/serving board is a piece of art as well as a multifunctional kitchen tool. Its beautiful, solid Vermont maple is pressure-bonded with a high-strength, water-resistant adhesive to protect the wood from moisture, and it also has a natural oil finish. One side of the board has a wedge to grip the poultry or meat while you carve and a deep gravy groove to catch the precious juices. The other side has a wider groove and is for general carving and serving. To extend the life of the board, rub the wood with mineral oil now and again. --Marcela Broussard

I've been very satisfied with the board for carving fowl and roasts; the raised pyramid grid center section holds meats in place without running risk of damage to my good knives. The groove around the edge to catch drippings seems to be big enough for even large roasts.

It's a pleasure to use, and it makes an elegant serving platter as well. The channels on the side let meat juices flow away from the work area without risking a stain to your tablecloth. And it has a great story too: cut from a renewable teak farm in the Mexican jungle, not from some ancient forrest in Malayasia that has been illegally clear cut.

(More customer reviews)This is a very nicely made cutting board and a great value at the price. BUT, I think it is a bit too big for use as an everyday board. I purchased both this board and the medium Mundial cutting board. They are identical except for the size. After having had them for a month or so, I have found that I use the medium board nearly everyday, while this board is a bit too large and heavy for use as an everyday cutting board. Rather, it is the board you break out for those big turkeys and hams on Thanksgiving & Christmas.
The bottom line is if you are looking for one everyday cutting board, I highly recommend the medium version of this board instead of this one. Or, do like I did & get both and have this one "on standby" for large roasts and poultry.

(More customer reviews)I was in desperate need of a new carving board and I only use wood. After careful research and reviewing other reviews; I purchased this board. The size is excellent and it is reversible; however there is no way to keep the board intact without it sliding. As I am a professional cook; I did what I normally do at work; I put a wet rag under it to hold it intact. Works well; until you remove the rag and let the board dry and "breathe." Within a few hours the board cracked and split on the backside. It warped. Considering the price; I would not recommend it. I still use it; but have had to make adjustments; such as using a dry rag; but it is warped. Very disappointed.

(More customer reviews)This cutting board is very lightweight in person, possibly lighter than the plastic cutting board I have been using. I regret ordering this as it arrived damaged (but still shrinkwrapped!) It looked like the cutting board separated along the gluing of pieces. Hmph! Don't buy this. I am going to try to return this without losing free shipping on the entire order but you should bear in mind the hassle of returning this very flimsy collection of toothpicks before you add it to your cart.
p.s. Mercifully, Amazon is allowing the return of this item without losing free shipping. I was about to boycott Amazon because of the Catch-22 I was in.
