Frieling French Press Ultimo 24oz ~ Insulated Stainless Steel Coffee Press ~ 6 Cup Review

Frieling French Press Ultimo 24oz ~ Insulated Stainless Steel Coffee Press ~ 6 Cup

I have owned several glass French Press makers and enjoyed them very much but kept losing them to breakage. This one is not only unbreakable but quite stylish. The insulation is a plus though the coffee does not stay hot as long as it would in a standard thermos.

By doing away with filters and cones, this 24-ounce French press from Frieling makes rich, delicious coffee in a self-contained, non-electric design. The press also smartly sidesteps the problem of breakable glass carafes with its high-quality 18/10 stainless-steel construction. At once beautiful, sleek, and sturdy, the mirror-finish piece has a satisfying weight, a comfortable full-length handle, and an all-steel mesh plunger mechanism ideal for coarse coffee grounds or loose tea leaves. Frieling's double-wall construction keeps hot beverages hot and cold ones cold if you use the pitcher by itself for milk or juice. Standing 8-5/8 inches high, the press disassembles completely for washing by hand or running through the dishwasher

Wolfgang Puck Citrus Juicer Review

Wolfgang Puck Citrus Juicer
Average Reviews:

This is my first electric citrus juicer. It seemed to work okay in the first few weeks but now it doesn't work well at all. I put it away and may just throw it away. The Wolfgang juicer is loud (wakes up the sleepers in the house), hard to get started unless you manipulate the fruit just right on the plastic wedge and the plastic parts are very thin. I wished so badly that it would work well so I didn't have to get out my enormous commercial vegetable/fruit juice extractor but that is not the case. I am going to make a more careful choice on my next citrus juicer. I juice everyday and that might be why the Wolfgang failed. It is not a heavy duty daily-juicer. Maybe if one occasionally juiced they could get away with enjoying it. After reading voluminous reviews about other machines, I surmise that these lower-end juicers are probably all the same. For us heavy users (once or twice a day juices for families), we probably need to step-it up to a commercial unit.

Whether you're enjoying a healthy breakfast, whipping up a batch of fresh cocktails, or exploring ethnic cuisine, freshly squeezed citrus makes a welcome ingredient in any home kitchen. Much easier to operate than a manual juicer, this small electric juicer quickly and easily extracts the juice from lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruit, and other citrus fruits. Simply cut the fruit in half and place the cut-side down over the juicer. Equipped with a powerful 85-watt motor, the unit automatically rotates back and forth, quickly and thoroughly extracting the fresh, delicious juice, then dispensing it into a glass via the built-in nondrip spout. Other highlights include a simple on/off switch, a secure-fitting lid, cord storage to help keep countertops looking tidy, and a lightweight design at about 3 pounds. Attractively housed in durable stainless steel, the citrus juicer measures 7-1/5 by 7-1/5 by 13-1/5 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Maxi-Matic ETS-401 Elite Cuisine 20-Ounce Citrus Juicer, White Review

Maxi-Matic ETS-401 Elite Cuisine 20-Ounce Citrus Juicer, White
Average Reviews:

I wanted a small and simple juicer, primarily for lemons/limes. I wanted it to be dishwasher safe, and I wanted to pay around $15. This is it. It probably doesn't compare to the models that are five times as expensive, and it's probably much smaller. But that was what I wanted. I don't need a a professional juicer to make a pitcher of limeade or a key lime pie.

Bodum 10619-10 Ceylon 102-Ounce Iced-Tea Maker and Water Infuser Review

This makes good iced tea, but the design leaves a lot to be desired. The handle is at the top, so when full I need two hands to lift it - not balanced well at all. Also, the diffuser is not anchored in any way, so it floats around the pitcher when you are filling with water. Oh, and the worst, most annoying part is that the top won't stay open. The slightest touch makes it slam shut. Just hard to handle overall.

Bodum Bistro Electric Two Speed Citrus Juicer Review

Bodum Bistro Electric Two Speed Citrus Juicer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I really wanted to like this juicer, but I was quickly disappointed.
Pros:
*It's quiet.
*It's easy to take apart and wash, and the relevant parts are even dishwasher safe.
*The glasses are very nice (if a bit thin), stackable, and bigger than I expected. They're the highlight of the product, actually.
Cons:
*The juicer cone is not very aggressively constructed. I found that I really had to push hard and wiggle the orange around a lot to get it going.
*The juicer does not turn very quickly. I think using a manual juicer would be just as quick.
*Though this juicer is 100 watts, it bogs down and strains if you push very hard (which it cautions you to not do).
*The "cyclone function" does not come anywhere near to extracting "all" the juice from the pulp, as they claim. It's only a little faster than the regular juicing speed, and it did pull out a bit more juice, but I was still left with a heap of sopping pulp in the strainer.
*Because the performance of this juicer is really not much better than a manual juicer, it might seem that it would be useful only for someone who would be juicing a lot of fruit at one time. But, per the instructions, you can only use this juicer for three minutes before you should stop and let it cool down to "room temperature." (I never sensed that it was getting hot, so how could I tell when it had cooled?) Given how long it takes to juice a single orange, you might be able to juice two oranges (one glassful) at the most before having to wait. This isn't a machine that will let you blaze through a bag of oranges and produce a pitcher of juice as breakfast cooks.
Overall, the Bodum Bistro juicer does indeed juice and is well designed for easy cleaning, but considering its price, large size, and so-so performance, I can't recommend it. Amazon offers other juicers that are highly rated and cheaper. In an electric, you might consider the very reasonably priced (and far more versatile) Black & Decker CJ525 CitrusMate Juicer, the even cheaper (and higher powered) Oster 3186 Juice-n-Serve Automatic Citrus Juicer or the Tribest Citristar Juicer; or go low-tech and cheap and try the aggressive cone on the Oxo Good Grips Citrus Juicer.

A glass of fresh juice in the morning is one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself. That is just one of the many reasons you're going to want the Bistro Electric Citrus Juicer for.First, the Bistro sits higher than other juicers so you can finally fit more than a thimble-sized glass under your juicer. Now you can enjoy a nice tall glass of juice; you can never get too much of a good thing, right. Another good reason:a drip-stop that keeps the juice from dripping all over your kitchen counter and making a sticky mess. And finally, there is the cyclone function. No more letting all that good pulp go to waste. After juicing your oranges and grapefruit, put the lid on the juicer and press down on it; every last bit of juice is squeezed out of the pulp at high speed. We wouldn't want you missing out on those extra vitamins. The Bistro Electric Citrus Juicer is made from plastic, silicone and stainless steel and comes in black, orange, red, green, and white with Bonus Pavina Grip Glasses.

Sun's Tea (TM) 13oz Strong Double Wall Old-Fashioned Thermo Whiskey/coffee/juice Glasses, Set of 2 Review

Sun's Tea (TM) 13oz Strong Double Wall Old-Fashioned Thermo Whiskey/coffee/juice Glasses, Set of 2
Average Reviews:

I had been waiting for a competitor to Bodum for double-walled glasses for a while now. Since this product advertised "strong" as a marketing tag, I thought it'd be worthwhile to try it out. However, this review isn't about the durability (yet) because I had owned the set for only a few days now.
If you're inclined to buy a pair of these glasses as gifts, be sure to buy two pairs. This is because the production quality appears quite inconsistent. My tallest glass is a whole centimeter taller than my shortest, and that's not mentioning the difference of heights between the inner and outer layers. One of my glasses does not have a perfectly level bottom, so it jiggles a little against the counter. If you're going to keep pairs or give them away, be sure to match the glasses closest in height and internal volume.
About internal volume - these are NOT 13 oz. They actually hold between 9-10 oz, closer to 8 oz comfortably. That's a cup. The 13 oz may refer to the outer layer.
Because of the thickness of the walls and distance between the layers, the lip is a bit thick as well. That's just a minor detail (it's easier to drink from a thinner glass lip).
In terms of insulation quality, they will hold cold milk well without sweating on the outside, but you will still feel the outer surface get cool, which is expected.
I'll add more later in terms of durability as I see fit, but the glasses seem sturdy enough. They remind me a great deal of lab beakers, actually.
Update 8/13: One of my glasses broke. A roughly 1-cm shard of glass was floating around between the walls and water got in during dishwashing. Judging by the location of the break (inside bottom "edge" of glass), I think someone dropped a heavy utensil like a butter knife into it while it was in the sink, causing the breakage. I don't know how that would translate into their "ice cube drop" test, but there you go.
