Cuisinart SMO-56 Smooth Operator 56-Ounce Blender, Brushed Chrome Review

This blender is amazing! I had a KitchenAid blender before which I thought was pretty good! Well was I ever wrong, this blender is powerful enough to:
1. Crush Ice with out being helped
2. Turn Skim milk into a thick drink, but not a shake
3. Make a perfect smoothie every time!
Some of the features I really like are:
1. The pour spout
2. The locking addition lid
3. The option to make it a regular blender or a smoothie blender
4. The stir stick - never had to use yet though!
5. POWER - and this baby is packing it!
This is not just an ordinary smoothie blender, this is a does it all blender- I have finally found a blender I am happy with! I only have one complaint - the base of the smoothie pitcher does not come off for cleaning without a screw driver! Other than taht cleanup is easy!

Waring Professional Kitchen Blender Review

Waring Professional Kitchen Blender
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My Grandmother had a Waring Blendor. My Mother had a Waring Blendor. Why did I have to BUY one instead of "borrowing" one of theirs? Because they gave them away to get "lighter", i.e., cheap, plastic blenders, back in the early eighties. Big mistake. My grandmother died before she had to replace hers, but my mother is on her third cheap blender now. I expect my Waring Blendor to last the rest of my life. Fortunately, I was able to get my grandmother's Waring Blendor Cookbook from the forties. The current model still has the powerful motor, heavy glass container, super-duper cord and top-quality switch that my grandmother's had, sixty-odd years ago.
I also picked up one at Goodwill to have an extra pitcher to make two kinds of frozen drinks when I have a party. It is about forty years old but still works great, and it was obviously used quite a bit. (I only wish I had found it before I bought a new one!) The container still fits the base on the current model.
Makes fruit juice like a juicer, makes the best milk shakes, daquiries, gazpacho; it can even whip cream for dessert or froth milk for fancy coffee drinks! You can make a thick, creamy milkshake with milk, a frozen banana, a couple of ice cubes, and a little chocolate powder. You can even pre-chill the container in the freezer to make sorbet.
The secret difference: this Blendor creates a tornado in the center of the container, ensuring that everything gets evenly mixed. According to my Waring Blendor Cookbook, this is because of the unique four-leaf clover shape of the container, the shape of the no-rust stainless blades, and the high-powered motor.
You can use a wooden spoon through the hole in the top to make sure ice cubes get properly mixed if you find that to be a problem. (If you add ice cubes one or two at a time to the container with liquid already in blending on high, you will have the smoothest frozen beverage you have ever had with NO leftover ice chunks.)
The easiest way to clean it is to fill it 1/4 to 1/3 full of water, add ONE drop of dishwashing detergent, PUT THE LID ON, blend, shake and rinse.
Sure, it is a little loud (brings back memories of my childhood!) and if you drop the glass container on your foot, you'll be sorry, for your foot, because the container probably will never break. Notice that none of the Waring Blendor's detractors suggest an alternative.
If it isn't in the MOMA collection of Twentieth Century Industrial Design, it should be.
Buy a Waring Blendor and you'll never have to buy another blender. And neither will your children.

Ninja Quad Blade Food & Drink Maker Review

Ninja Quad Blade Food and Drink Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The blades on this machine to be EXTREMELY, (and I do mean EXTREMELY) S-H-A-R-P.! Think of the sharpest blade you have ever come across -- a razor-blade, or very, very sharp knife -- and you will have some idea of the EXTREME sharpness of these blades. Yep -- even I knicked myself on these blades, before I realized how very, very, VERY sharp they are. Of course, this exteme sharpness makes for extremely good and powerful cutting action -- but one should be aware of this sharpness before purchasing this item, especially if there are small children in the house, who usually have NO limits at all on their curiousity and mischieveness.
These blades cut VERY well, and do every job advertised! Some blenders do their jobs by having a large wattage or ampere rating -- but the Ninja does it with very, very sharp blades. It is more powerful, in making my prized receipe for thick, heavy salmon moule, than even my beloved Vita Mix 5200, (a great machine....for most things.) Just be sure to "prep" the Ninja first, by pulsing a few times to break up the batter a bit first. Those sharp blades sure know to chop things up, and usually, no water or liquid at all is needed! Amazing!
On the negative side, though, it must be mentioned that both the large set of blades, (which fit into the larger blender-size container), and the small set of blades, (which fit into the mini-container), come in TWO SEPARATE PARTS. So, you get a total of four
blade parts. THE BLADE PARTS MUST BE FITTED TOGETHER FIRST, AND/OR DROPPED SEPARATELY, ON TOP OF EACH OTHER, INTO THE APPROPRIATE CONTAINER. Why EURO-PRO did not put both blade parts together, so the user would have only one blade-part to put into each container, is beyond me. The half-blade parts are obviously smaller, and are easier to lose, in both dishwasher or with hand-washing. There is also a small rubbery-plastic part that fits into bowl part, where the blade is dropped in. It is very small and easy to lose, and if it's lost, it's impossible to put the blades in properly.
The main difference, (the only difference, as far as I can see, anyway), between this item and the Euro-Pro QB900 Ninja Master Prep, also offered here on Amazon, is that the item here will give you two extra mini-blend containers for an extra $10.
Also, the "Master Pod" top part is rather heavy, compared to the rest of the set. After all, the hand-held "Master Pod" is where the motor
is housed! It takes a bit of getting used to, holding this comparatively heavy part, (roughly weighing about a pound-and-a-half), and, though handling this part shouldn't be any trouble at all for normally-abled people, if you're handicapped, and sometimes find it hard to lift anything even as light as a pound and a half, I'd think twice about buying this admittedly nifty little machine. Also, one must always KEEP one's finger pressed down ON the "Master Pod" button, to make the Ninja blender work. Because of the power and sharpness of the blades, oen doesn't really have to keep one's finger on the Master Pod button very long -- but if this is problem, please be aware of it. Unlike traditional blenders, or even the "Magic Bullet" machines, one CANNOT use the "Ninja" Blender unless constantly attending to it and pressing down on the top button...I've also found that preparing a VERY SMALL amount of food is impossible in this machine, because the blades -- unlike those of most other blenders I've used -- do NOT reach all the way to the bottom of the containers-- even the mini-containers. In this, it's just like the Vitamix. What do I mean by a small amount? Well, you can't mix one or two eggs in either of the NINJA containers -- because they will not even reach the bottom blade, which is about an inch from the bottom of the container. For mixing such little amounts, use a conventional, "Osterizer/ Waring" type blender, or the "Magic Bullet" series of blenders. This is an important fact to remember, as so many people live by themselves these days, and sometimes only WANT to mix only one or two eggs, etc.
But the NINJA does the job -- all its jobs -- so very well. Just keep its few short-comings in mind before you decide if this machine is really the one for you. Just like Ninja warriors, it's fast, nimble, works on simple, easy-to-understand, (but VERY powerful!), principles, and looks deceptively simple, sitting there on your counter!

17 Pcs Party Blender Blends, Mixes, Grinds, Chops,& Juicer Review

17 Pcs Party Blender Blends, Mixes, Grinds, Chops, and Juicer
Average Reviews:

My Magic Bullet broke after many years of daily use. Actually, it was a black plastic piece on the motor shaft that the blade assembly nestles onto that broke. I didn't think that super-glueing it back together would work due to the pressure exerted on that piece. So off I went to buy a new motor.
Prices of motors alone (on eBay) were about the same as buying this entire Cookinex set, so I went for this set. If you look closely, it appears to have an identical motor to the Magic Bullet, so I took my chances.
I am now happy to say that it IS completely compatible.
1 - the blade assembly from Magic Bullet fits onto the Cookinex motor and turns on properly.
2 - the cups from the Magic Bullet set screw onto the blade assembly for the Cookinex. I tested the connection and there was no leakage.
All parts are interchangeable, so now I have some pretty new cups as well as a fully functional motor replacement for my Magic Bullet.
Hurray!

Breville BBL600XL Ikon 750-Watt 51-Ounce Blender Review

Breville BBL600XL Ikon 750-Watt 51-Ounce Blender
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After owning two inferior blenders, I wanted one for our family that was powerful, sturdy, relatively quiet, easy to clean and good-looking. This blender is simply the best blender we have ever owned.
First, it is very powerful. You should have no problem using it for everything blenders are usually used for, including crushing ice, which it does amazingly well. It has a separate smoothie button that is fantastic: it varies the speed during the blending process and helps you create perfect smoothies, with no effort on your part. The blender shuts off automatically after using the smoothie or other preset functions, and has a digital display that counts down and tells you how long it will take to finish blending.
Perhaps most importantly, the curved blades and concave container are designed in such a way as to reduce or eliminate the amount of food that gets stuck in the bottom of the blender. In fact, after using it a few times, I was pleasantly surprised to find NO unblended pieces of food at the bottom of the blender. Everything was blended.
Regarding noise, this is by far the quietest blender I have ever encountered. With such a powerful motor, I'm not sure how they did it. I am a professional composer and have very sensitive ears, and the relative low volume of this blender is something I definitely appreciate. Don't get me wrong: it's a blender, so it still makes noise, but it is definitely NOT as loud as inferior blenders priced less than $100.
The base and container are quite heavy and will stay put when you are blending. It giggles a little when blending on a high setting (there are sturdy rubber feet that help to reduce noise), but it won't move on your counter. The container is made of thick glass, and you can wash the whole base in the dishwasher (the glass part in the bottom rack, the other parts in the top rack). The container lid has a sturdy ring that makes it very easy to pull off the tight-fitting lid. Don't let the pics fool you: that little ring is thicker than it looks.
Some blenders have plastic containers and some have glass, like this one. The advantage of plastic is really just the (usually) cheaper cost and lighter weight. The disadvantage is that plastic containers may crack (as ours did) and leak plastic molecules into your food over time as the container ages. Most plastics are carcinogenic, so I like to avoid plastic containers if at all possible, since this one is glass, and very thick, it is relatively safe. The markings on the side of the container are easy to read, so it's not difficult to use it as a measuring container when adding food, particularly liquids.
The blade housing is also very sturdy and much larger than on a typical cheap blender. It fits on so tightly that you need a turning handle (supplied) to unscrew the base. If I had only ONE complaint, this would be it. I don't like the idea of having to use anything other than my hands to disassemble the blender. But since I'll take a tight-fitting assembly over one that might leak any day, this really isn't a complaint at all.
BTW: for the technically inclined, this blender is assembled with screws, so if you wanted to disassemble the base, you could do it very easily. This thing is solid as a rock.
Regarding cleaning, the buttons are slightly raised under a one-piece pad that is extremely easy to clean. If any food does spill, which is unlikely, all you need to do is wipe it up with a soft rag or paper towel. One side note: you will need to thoroughly wash the blender once you get it out of the box. It still has the factory manufacturing smell, but that clears up with a good wash or two in the dishwasher.
Lastly, this is a fine-looking appliance. It's much sleeker than others made my KitchenAid and so on, and is industrial-quality, without looking like it belongs in a restaurant kitchen.
All in all, I am extremely happy with this blender and enthusiastically give it five stars.
***UPDATE***
We had this blender for 2 1/ 2 years, using it maybe 3-4 times a week on average, and the motor finally gave out. To be more accurate, the power light blinked on, but the blade assembly would not run. We didn't do anything abnormal with it, and mostly used it for smoothies. Then one day, it just would not work.
Like others mention here, it will leak if you do not screw the bottom part on very tight. In fact, you have to be quite strong to screw it on tight enough so that it will not leak. Ironically, leaks rarely happened over the button area, but definitely happened above the blade if the bottom was even a tiny bit loose. I also found it annoying that the only way to remove the base if it was screw on as tightly as it needed to be was to use the lever that comes with the blender. Shouldn't blenders come apart without having a separate gadget to worry about?
As for my comments that it can be taken apart, I'll have to retract that. I attempted to take it apart to replace a fuse, the part of the blender that apparently gave out, but it's basically impossible--not very easy to take apart at all.
All in all, we really enjoyed our Breville blender while it worked, but we think that for this price, it should last five years or longer under normal use. We will not purchase this model again and will look at other brands like Vitamix.

I just threw a party last weekend at my new apartment - I got this blender cuz it was big and looked nice (and I thought it might inspire some creative margaritas!)
The blender worked great and since our friends kept talking about how good it looked, I figured I'd give it a good review. The blender jar is huge (I think it's 1.5 liters) - it's perfect for parties. It also has some rubber feet to keep it from shaking and bouncing around. We made a ton of frozen drinks and it handled ice cubes without any problems. I'm using it for my daily smoothies too.

Vita-Mix CIA Restaurant Commercial Blender Review

Necessity or Luxury: Depends on if you have experienced it (& if you plan on using it regularly)
As a guy who takes his smoothies and soups very seriously, it is a necessity for me. While some might argue about the price (Covers the purchase of an average blender every year into perpetuity if purchase price is invested in an annuity), I find comparisons to other blenders moot as the results from the Vitamix is not reproducible by an average blender (no strawberry/blackberry seeds in your smoothie, no bell pepper seeds in your soup). And, cleaning takes seconds!
The Motor of the Vitamix 5200 is the same as the CIA Commercial blender and costs a little less. The CIA edition comes with an exhaustive recipe book and a CD. Did I mention the blend sound reminds me of a revving Ferrari? (All the more reason to go RED!)

Ninja Master Prep Professional Blender, Chopper and Ice Crusher More Powerful & 2x Faster Review

Ninja Master Prep Professional Blender, Chopper and Ice Crusher More Powerful and 2x Faster

A friend suggested this to me and after her review and research, I decided to get it. I have owned the Ninja Master Prep for a little over a month and it is as advertised. You do need to make sure you don't overload it. I've learned to use the pitcher for most things. The pour spout makes it easy to add more liquid if needed. I've made mixed berries ice cream, strawberry ice cream, iced coffee and chicken salad. My great-grandson loves the ice cream. I use frozen fruit, reg. milk and a little sugar for him, splenda for me and it's perfect. I make as much as I want and if there is a little left over put the lid on and put it in the freezer. I have strawberry ice cream in the freezer now. I freeze left over coffee in an ice tray. Put frozen coffee, coffee mate, splenda and milk in the pitcher and mix. The only problem so far, after I have 1 ice coffee I want another. I would buy this again and would love to have an additional pitcher.

Ninja Blender - Black Review

Ninja Blender - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I drink a lot of smoothies that contain frozen fruit and various vegetables. I was using a standard blender that could be purchased anywhere for normal household use. It was not powerful enough to handle all of the frozen fruit and items that I threw in it and the motor burnt out very quickly. I purchased the Ninja Blender to replace it, and here is my feedback after using it daily for two weeks:
Perks:
It is very powerful. I can fill it full of frozen fruit, various vegetables and greens, and it blends them very quickly and effortlessly. For that, I love it! It is easy and safe to use, even my children can operate it safely. It has a large pitcher that is easy to pour from. It is easy to clean-no need to disassemble it, the design is brilliant in that the parts are solid and well constructed, and easy to remove from the base to wash.
Downfalls:
It DOES NOT blend to a smooth consistency! If the most important feature of a blender for you is that it blend the contents smoothly, this IS NOT the blender for you. It does break everything down quickly and efficiently-power is not a problem. But no matter how long you blend the contents, they will still be grainy or "minced" at best. In other words, I must still "chew" my smoothie a bit. I believe it is the shape of the blades that are the downfall of this blender.
Because I blend daily and demand a lot from the blender, yet cannot afford the $300-400 units that would blend the way I need them to, I am opting to keep the Ninja. I am surrendering to the fact (for financial reasons) that it will not blend smoothly. I make my smoothies using a two-step process: cycle it through the Ninja first breaking everything up as much as possible, then pouring the amount I want to drink into my Magic Bullet and blending it again to a smooth consistency (I already owned the Magic Bullet, but rarely used it before because it simply wasn't big enough to suit my needs). This works for me because I make a huge Ninja pitcher full in the morning and put it in the fridge, then pour out and blend small amounts to drink in the Magic bullet throughout the day, "fast food" if you will.
It would be a benefit to the manufacturer of the Ninja Blender to construct an additional blade that will fit on the base of the current unit that blends to a smooth consistency.
***UPDATE***
I decided to contact the manufacturer to find out if there was a better blade available for the Ninja Blender. I was unhappy that their customer support was a non-English speaking representative. I could barely understand what he was saying, he could not understand me...I THINK that I discovered there is not another blade available that will puree my food/smoothies to a smooth consistency.
Ultimately, I returned the Ninja Blender. I grew tired of my two-step process described above, and felt it was not worth the money spent versus a less expensive blender that was perhaps not as powerful but would puree to a smooth consistency.
Because of my unpleasant experience with the customer service, and the fact that the blender does not puree, I reduced the rating to 2-star, and would NOT recommend this product for the money spent.
I would not recommend this product.

Magic Bullet Express 17-Piece High-Speed Blender Mixing System Review

Magic Bullet Express 17-Piece High-Speed Blender Mixing System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For the most part, anything that is advertised on those infomercials over-promises or fails to deliver. I ordered a Magic Bullet anyway because it seemed to be just the sort of kitchen appliance that I needed...small, safe and useful. I crossed my fingers and ordered one. When the package arrived, it was packed nicely in a large case containing all the parts and accessories as advertised; mixing cups, drinking/mixing mugs, small blender attachment, juicer attachment, shaker cups, two receipe books, an instruction manual, blades and motor base. Basically, the Magic Bullet is a small compact blender that is turned on it's head. Instead of putting items from the top and blending/chopping them, you put the contents in a holding cup and twist on the cap/blade. This whole unit is then placed upside down on the base and you turn it on. After the contents are processed, you take the unit off the base and twist off the blade/cap. A great and ingenious idea. But the big question is, does it work as advertised? The surprising answer is yes.
I've had this unit for about a month and a half now and am thoroughly surprised at how nice it works. I have made smoothies that not only rival the local juice bars, but the product tastes better and is a snap to make. I have also made personal servings of soup and vegatable smoothies. Making a tuna-egg-mayo spread was blended very nicely and the whole family ate it up in a couple of days. To get this unit to work as it was intended has to do with reading the manual. It states very clearly that there are certain ways to load your mixing cup. In cases where things do not get blended or are stuck at the top of the cup, the instructions tell you to take the blending cup off and to tap it a few times to get all the contents to the bottom. There is no problem in overheating *if you read the manual*. About 90% of the jobs can be done in about 10 seconds or less by using the pulse method. If you continuously blend/chop and leave it on like a regular blender, it will overheat and possibly break the unit. Nothing needs to be processed for more than 30 seconds so this is a moot point. Clean-up is one of the best features of this appliance. Just run the mixing cups and blades under water with a little soap, and you are done. This unit is so easy to use that our family uses it on a daily basis.
As far as the cost is concerned, it may seem a little on the steep end, but the Magic Bullet pays for itself in no time at all. It has many useful features which allow you to use it as a coffee grinder, a chopper, a blender, a smoothie maker, a sandwich spread maker, soup mixer, etc. I have never used a small kitchen appliance as much as I have used the Magic Bullet. The big blender made by -------, which has been sitting on the shelf for many years is now officially retired.
A few minutes of your time in reading the manual will help you dodge any bullets in using the Magic Bullet.

Vitamix CIA Professional Countertop Blender with 2+ HP Motor, Platinum Review

Vitamix CIA Professional Countertop Blender with 2+ HP Motor, Platinum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had my platinum Vita-Mix 1363 CIA (Culinary Institute of America) model blender for just over a month. So far, I am loving it! I have definitely increased my consumption of fruits and vegetables since getting it. I start most mornings off with a smoothie now. I throw in whatever fruit is in season (I love berries, but I've used peaches, nectarines, plums, grapes, apples, bananas and various frozen fruits), a scoop or two of protein powder, milk or water, a couple handfuls of fresh spinach, a couple handfuls of ice and sweetener if needed. Surprisingly, the spinach doesn't noticeably change the flavor, but it does boost the nutritional content of the smoothie. In less than 10 minutes I can have my smoothie made, poured into a "to go" cup and have the machine all clean (just add warm water and a couple drops of dish soap- turn it on for 30 seconds, then empty and rinse the container). The smoothies always turn out 100% smooth- berry seeds, apple seeds, ice and other hard bits are totally pulverized and drinkable. I've made great low-cal salad dressings using fresh herbs, garlic, low fat cottage cheese, a splash of milk and salt (if you prefer, you could use Ranch dressing mix with cottage cheese and milk). I made a very satisfying tomato soup with home grown tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic, onion and salt. I've made great blended piña coladas, too! I'm having a lot of fun experimenting with different recipes. Because the Vita-Mix processes foods quickly, I'm actually finding that I'm making healthier eating choices. It's faster for me to put together a salad with pre-washed greens, veggies and homemade dressing than it is to go to the nearest fast food restaurant... and in the end, it's more satisfying and a LOT healthier. Yes, this is an expensive machine, but I think it will pay for itself within the first two years by reducing my spending on going out to eat.
This is a heavy-duty machine. It is loud when it's in use, but generally you won't need to run the machine for more than a couple minutes at a time. This is definitely a professional quality machine and will yield professional quality results. A regular home blender cannot compare!
The Vita-Mix 1363 CIA model and the Vita-Mix 5200 model are essentially the same machine. The CIA model has some different color choices and comes with a HUGE recipe book called "Create", a smaller "recipes and techniques" booklet and an hour long cooking class DVD. The 5200 model includes a different booklet and DVD. Both have the same 7-year warranty. If the color of the machine and the recipe book don't matter to you, save yourself some $$$ and go for the 5200 model instead.

Ninja Master Prep Professional Blender, Chopper and Ice Crusher: More Power & 2 Times Faster & Recipe Book Included Review

Ninja Master Prep Professional Blender, Chopper and Ice Crusher: More Power and 2 Times Faster and Recipe Book Included
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There are two serious issues with this item which minimizes it's value.
First, the power is only 450 watts, which is about the same as the normal household blender. The people who have been writing these positive reviews - reviews upon which I relied when I bought this thing - seem like they have never heard of a blender or food processor. The bottom line with regards to power is indisputable - this is the same wattage as a weak blender. Regardless of what people are saying, bear this in mind - no more power than a blender. That's the biggest problem.
Second, the position of the blades relative to the size of the containers does not crush ice into snow as stated (unless you are willing to continually remove the motor and lid, and reposition the ice and/or the contents) and does not chop veggies or anything else evenly.
I tried to crush ice into snow. After repositioning the contents 4 times, I still had chunks of ice (the ice I started with was already crushed ice from our freezer dispenser). So yes, you'll get some snow. But you'll also get so many chunks of ice that it makes this thing useless relative to a blender. When I chopped veggies, the size difference was annoying. Any attempt to more finely chop the larger pieces liquified the smaller pieces.
Here's the thing. If you want to truly crush ice into snow, you need a professional blender (as you see in coffee shops or smoothie outlets). Amazon carries them, they operate on 1000 watts, and cost $200. The base motor (with blade) has to be wider than traditional blenders and the container wider throughout. The idea of 2 or 3 tiers of blades does not help in this regard.
If you want to chop veggies, you need a good food processor where the blades are proportionate to the container. These blades are far too spread apart to chop evenly.
One more thing. This product comes with 3 separate containers for different purposes. You'll need 2-3x the storage space of an ordinary blender.
The Amazon ad says that this lists for $69.95 (as of today). I paid $59.95 at Kohls and had a 30% off coupon. I also had $10 of Kohls cash that I used. That means my cost was about $32 before tax.
And I'm still taking it back.
Beware of some of these reviews. I mean, I have yet to read reviews that were so hyped up. I have to wonder about the origin. Just use common sense and if you still wat to try it, make sure you save the box and receipt.

Juicer Attachment compatible with original Magic Bullet Review

Juicer Attachment compatible with original Magic Bullet

If I could I'd give it minus 10 stars. Magic Bullet is a terrific small appliance, I love it to death but it is NOT a juicer by any stretch of imagination. Maybe you'll manage to fix a quater of a cup of melon or papaya juice but don't even dream of it handling carrots or even cucumbers. The cylinder mesh insert will jump off the seats in one nanosecond, there is no filter or cutting mesh of any kind between the pusher and the blades when you try to push your veggies down; you, your counter and kitchen walls be in pulp up to here (red beats make splatter decor especially bright and colorful:-) , all veggies/fruit/salad leaves completely wasted.

Breville 800BLXL 1000 Watt Die-Cast Hemisphere Blender Plus Juice Jar And The Smoothies Bible Pat Crocker Review

Breville 800BLXL 1000 Watt Die-Cast Hemisphere Blender Plus Juice Jar And The Smoothies Bible Pat Crocker
Average Reviews:

I upgraded from the 750 watt Breville to this 1000 watt Breville and was just as disappointed months later. When you bring it home, it works great, very powerful for smoothies with frozen fruit. However, one year later I'm going to have to throw it away. It's horrible and the pitcher is a horrible design. It's not made of glass and always has a stain on it. If any of the smoothie drips over the sides and trickles down, it ends up between the outside of the clear container and these corner pieces. There is NO WAY to clean it properly and it begins to smell overtime. I unfortunately recommended this machine to a friend who is also NOT happy with hers as it is doing the same thing. I can't believe I spent so much money on this machine and now have to put it in the trash. Don't let the sleek design suck you in.

Breville 800BLXL Die-Cast Hemisphere 2-Speed Blender with 67-Ounce Polycarbonate Jar Review

Breville 800BLXL Die-Cast Hemisphere 2-Speed Blender with 67-Ounce Polycarbonate Jar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After reading the previous reviews, I was a bit leery of buying this blender. I wanted the best, period. First, this is in my opinion the best looking and I leave it on my counter top, replacing a Kitchen Aid which I gave to my sister.
The first thing I did was to fill the jug with ice to the top. I pushed the ice button and within a few minutes, I had finely grated snow with no large chunks at all. It would have been a perfect snow cone. I went on to put in Strawberries, soft tofu, Yogurt, Soy vanilla ice cream, honey and a little non fat milk on top of the shaved ice. It made one of the best smoothies I have ever had. I have had numerous complements from my wife and neighbors on the smoothies this produces.
I also put in a whole large sweet onion quartered and three cups of large skinned tomatoes, some mushrooms, corn and whole garlic cloves, along with some essential seasoning and made a perfect tomato soup. The consistency was creamy and consistently smooth throughout. No chunks of any of the ingredients, including the corn kernels or garlic cloves. It was wonderful.
I have not had this very long. About two weeks now, but it has gotten a lot of use in that time. I can not speak to the long term reliability of the product, but I have had other Breville products and they are consistently top drawer. The one thing I do think that Breville might have misjudged is that the jar is polycarbonate, a fancy word for plastic. It does seem to be a very sturdy jar and perhaps, there is a certain logic to it. When I transport a full jug of soup from the blender to a bowl or what ever, the weight is quite manageable. Not really an issue for me, but I could see it for others, especially elderly or those with physical limitations. The fit of the blade to the base and jar is clean and the design seems to be very well thought out. There is a plastic wrench supplied in the event the blade base is stuck on the jar, but I have not needed it yet for cleaning and there have been no leaks even after storing liquids in the jar for a period with just hand tightening.
It is only a two speed but in doing some research it seems that most multi button blenders have a low speed and 12 high speeds which are the same. This is done for the button loving public who think more is better. The 1000 watts is not really a dependable measure of the power of the motor since it really only tells you the power consumption of the motor and not the output. It seems to have more than enough power for the toughest jobs however and is heavy enough not to move if I do walk away from it to get an ingredient to place in the top opening while it is running.
Breville seems to have come up with a nice design of the blades and bottom of the container since it moves the material from the top to the bottom and vice versa for even cutting quite well on it's own and the hole in the top makes it easy to insert new ingredients with the motor running. I will say that this blender does everything I ask of it and better than my high end Kitchen Aid Blender which left small chunks of things like ice and garlic or corn kernels, etc.
If I have a problem with the motor breaking down as the others had, ( which based on my other Breville appliances, I doubt will be a problem), I will come back and comment on it, but for now, this is the nicest blender I have ever owned and I highly recommend it. In my opinion well worth the extra money.

West Bend 7010 Stainless-Steel 800-Watt Juice Extractor with Blender Attachment Review

West Bend 7010 Stainless-Steel 800-Watt Juice Extractor with Blender Attachment
Average Reviews:

I bought my juicer with high hopes. It leaves a lot of pulp and even large chunks of fruit. It takes quite a while to clean it, so it is not very useful in the morning before work along with my regular morning routine. I wish I had bought the Jack Lalanne version or a Vita Mix blender. Oh well, too late.

Equipped with a powerful 800-watt motor, this juice extractor makes it easy to access all the nutrients and great taste from fresh fruits and vegetables. Choose from two speed settings--low speed for juicing soft fruits and vegetables like oranges, melons, grapes, and fresh summer berries or high speed for harder produce like carrots, celery, cabbage, and beets. It also provides a "pulse" function for controlled bursts of power. The unit's 3-inch-wide food chute with a pusher accommodates large pieces of produce, while its generous 1-quart-capacity juice jug makes it possible to create large batches for the whole family to enjoy. Simply add produce through the feed tube, flip on the power switch, and it takes care of the rest, dispensing juice through the side spout into the included juice jug or other container. Pulp and seeds eject automatically into a separate 2-quart pulp bin for quick disposal or composting, or, better yet, for adding to sauces, soups, salsa, jams, cakes, and more. The appliance also provides a blender attachment with a 1.9-quart glass blending jar for mixing up frozen drinks, fruit smoothies, milkshakes, and more. The blending jar comes with an easy-grip handle, a secure-fitting lid, and a nondrip spout for graceful serving. Other highlights include a built-in safety lock, non-slip feet, cord storage, and dishwasher-safe parts for convenient cleanup. Attractively housed in stainless steel, the juice extractor measures approximately 12 by 10 by 18 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.
