KitchenAid Citrus Juicer Review

KitchenAid Citrus Juicer

The third time that I used this juicer (for exactly what it was supposedly designed - squeezing juice from lime halves), it broke into pieces. It is made of inferior quality "pot" metal (zinc chromate?) and should be withdrawn from the market. Don't waste your time and money on this piece of junk.

Lemons, limes, oranges, and even kiwis will yield their juice without a struggle once you have placed them in this gadget and exerted a little pressure. Easy to use, easy to clean, no need for an outlet, or a deafening racket. Now isn't that a kinder, gentler way to start your morning?

OK, like me for some reason you decided you wanted a food processor. Why? Who knows. Let's be honest, most stuff you need to slice up can easily be chopped using a knife. A good Santuko knife will do the job; but like Tim Taylor you want more power. If that's your need then this is a great machine. It comes with every blade you could ever want. It slices cucumbers well but so does a knife. Anyway, don't waste huge bucks on a big name machine when you can waste them on this one and be happy. It slices up everything and unless you are stupid beyond belief, you can't slice up your fingers. If nothing else it makes great bread dough. Pizza time. Hey, it really does a great job with pepperoni for that pizza, Much better than a Santuko. Come on, do you really have money to waste? If so, then waste it on this model.

With its sleek, retro design in black with stainless-steel accents, this compact 11-cup-capacity Oster food processor not only looks good on the kitchen counter, but it also features a powerful 500-watt motor that makes quick work of large and small tasks alike - use it for mixing, chopping, slicing, shredding, blending, and much more. Simply add fresh produce to its wide-mouth opening at the top, which is wide enough to fit many whole fruits and vegetables; gently lower food towards the cutting blade with the food pusher; and turn the dial from "off" to "on" or "pulse" to set the blades spinning. Choose the stainless-steel S-shaped chopping blade or the reversible stainless-steel slicing/shredding disc for easy food prep no matter what's on the menu: pasta with a creamy pesto sauce, homemade pizza with fresh vegetables, carrot cake or zucchini bread - the options are endless. For added convenience, the appliance provides a citrus-juicer attachment for making fresh orange juice in the morning, a gourmet French Fry cutter for restaurant-style fries, an additional fine slicing/shredding disc, a dough blade, and a handy spatula for scraping the sides clean, as well as an accessory case to keep all the parts neatly stored when not in use. The food processor/juicer offers a cord-storage compartment to help keep countertops looking tidy, and its removable parts clean up easily by hand or in the dishwasher.

KitchenAid FVSFGA Fruit/Vegetable Strainer and Food Grinder for Stand Mixers Review

This gizmo makes the shortest work of making applesauce you ever imagined. You slice the apples, cook in a large pan with a small amount of water until they are soft. Then you push the apple mush, skins, seeds, core, stems, etc. in the top of the food grinder, and out the sieve part comes pure applesauce, out the end, comes the seeds, skin and stem. It takes maybe 10 minutes to process a 16qt pot of cooked apples.
I usually get every burner on my stove going, heat the pots of apples, process the mush into sauce, then can the lot. The canning part takes the longest.
Anyway if you can apple sauce, you need this tool.

KitchenAid FVSP Fruit and Vegetable Strainer Parts for Food Grinder Review

I bought this attachment to go along with the food grinder attachment (sold separately.) Wow - I can't believe how quickly I can make fresh applesauce. I simmer quartered apples - seeds, cores, peels, and all - until tender, then send them through the strainer. In minutes, I have fresh, hot applesauce. The refuse is expelled through the end and into another bowl, so you never have to worry about all that peeling and coring.
Tomato sauce? Just as easy. Fresh quartered tomatoes go in one end; the juice/pulp and the seeds come out separately. After that, it's only a matter of cooking the sauce down.
The strainer is a great addition to my kitchen.

KitchenAid JE Citrus Juicer Stand Mixer Attachment Review

KitchenAid JE Citrus Juicer Stand Mixer Attachment

I really like this attachment and use it frequently. That said, I have some suggestions:
For users-
1. Use the KitchenAid mixing bowl to catch the juice, and place a large standard kitchen strainer across the bowl. This speeds things up a lot!
2. Rub some shortening on the aluminum shaft before inserting it into the brass sleeve. If you use your juicer a lot, this will greatly prolong its life.
For KitchenAid-
1. The plastic piece that inserts into the mixer should be made out of metal, instead of plastic with a metal sleve. On mine the plastic is cracking away from the brass.
2. The aluminum shaft should be brass or steel. As it is, the bearing surface is a small area of aluminum that even when lubricated, is showing lots of wear.
