Hitech - Cordless Mini Mixer Review

(More customer reviews)Love these mini-mixers! They'll make short work of chocolate milk, strawberry Quick, or any other "mix in the glass" beverage that's not too thick. I've made smoothies with it (yogurt/berries/etc..), but it can't handle ice cream.
Ours came with a little wobble (the spinning shaft seems to be a little off center) but it still works great. Can't beat the price.

(More customer reviews)I received this yesterday, and made a dinner requiring ground beef just so I could try it out! Even thought the ground beef I had was the cheapest I could find, this tool did an amazing job of breaking the beef apart. When it was almost all browned, I chopped it again with this, and the meat was broken into tiny little particles! This is so much easier to use than a spatula, wooden spoon or fork! And the results were awesome! I love that I could just throw it in the dishwasher and it is clean again! Definitely worth the small amount of money this costs! I might just buy a few more for family!

(More customer reviews)My mother wanted a cutting board with grip. She was concerned about having her roast slide away from her and the knife slip. I thought this cutting board would be returned when I opened it. It felt strange, it looked strange...but she loves it.
Thanks to whomever designed this odd thing
1/21/10 update- My mother has been using this cutting board for a month now. She still loves it. She likes that meat juice collects in the board so that it can easily be saved for broth. It doesn't move on the countertop and the roasts/chickens stay put on the board. She has not got the dexterity she used to have. This has made her cooking safer and more enjoyable.

(More customer reviews)This strainer is great looking and extremely durable. It is expensive but the quality of it is great. This strainer will fit over bowls, pots and if you have a double sink like I do you can hang it over the sink. I really like that. I made a strawberry mixture to put over cheesecake and biscuit shortcake using 2lbs of strawberries. The mixture accumulated a lot of juice after sitting for a while and I did not want all that juice so I put the entire 2lbs of cut up strawberries in this strainer and there was still room left. I was really impressed to see over a cup of juice come through this strainer before I pressed on the berries. I was able to stir the berries without any problem. It is rather deep so you have to use deep bowl or deep pot if you want to keep what ever you're straining. I am going to get the larger 10" size too. If you don't mind spending a few extra dollars, this is a great conical strainer for many uses that should last a very long time as long as you dry it thoroughly after washing. I would recommend this to any serious cook.

Takeya 66-Ounce Iced Tea Maker with Silicone Handle, Avocado/Olive Review

(More customer reviews)I'm so glad I found this tea brewer. I had the Bodum Ceylon brewer for about a year and I would imagine that it's one of the main alternatives to the Takeya.
I'll do a quick comparison:
Durability - honestly, i've only had it for about a month but it's obviously made of better quality, or at least, more durable material. i'm not overly concerned about it breaking. the bodum ceylon i had cracked after using it for about a year and with relatively light usage - as in not every day or even every week of the year. time will tell, but i don't think this is gonna break so easily. the quality feels better in the hand. doesn't feel cheap. Infuser/Filtering ability - the holes on the bodum are large and so smallish leaf or the "dust" gets through quite easily into the brewed tea. the filter on the takeya is very fine and so far i've had clear cups of iced tea. i've been making white tea which has a larger leaf though. i'm thinking that it would do okay with japanese teas which tend have a very fine, almost ground up, leaf. i think takeya is a japanese brand so i would imagine they'd make a brewer that would do a reasonable job on their teas.
the infuser on the bodum though extends the length of the pitcher and so you don't need to fill it up. you would need to fill up the takeya to at least where the tea leaves are in the filter in order to make the tea. you may not want that much and you don't have the option of choosing.Looks - the bodum was nice to look at but the material easily took on a cloudy, not so new looking appearance. it looked old after the first usage. i like the takeya - i like green top since that's my fave color. this particular takeya model is tall so you should take measurements in your fridge to make sure it'll fit wherever you plan to put it. the bodum model is slender which is nice. it slides in easily to narrow areas.Ease of use - the takeya filter/infuser twists into the top/lid. that's very cool. it's very easy. the bodum slides into grooves/tracks on the side of the pitcher. you just have to make sure you get into the grooves; they are easily missed. you also flip this thing at the handle to open the top. the air can also easily access the tea because it's not really closed off. the takeya has a twist open top that will allow you to pour, without excess spillage. and tea stays fresher.BPA - if you care, takeya says it is bpa free. i don't know about bodum. it's not on the description.so, obviously i prefer this one. it's a nice product. i'm looking forward to making more iced tea. i use the cold (no heat) brewing method by the way.

All Wheat is Not EqualWe have had the experience of growing wheatgrass and being in the commercial wheatgrass business over the last 14 years. During that time we have experienced many different kinds of wheat. We have used wheat from Texas, Utah, Montana, California, and Israel both organic and non organic. There are two kinds of wheat one can buy: chemical free and certified organic. Most wheat is chemical free in that the farmer might or might not use an herbicide to control the weeds in his fields.
