We chose it to give to our son and his wife because it is such a heavy substantial cutting board with two distinct features - the groove for catching the drippings and the solid feet which will keep it from slipping. The quality of the wood is such that I know they will have many, many years of use of it without any concern for the wood splitting. A great product for the price! I would certainly recommend this cutting board.
