To sprout your own seeds follow these easy steps
1) Soak the seeds overnight in warm water
2) Place the seeds in a strainer
- place a saucer under the strainer
- place a 1 lbs weight on the seeds, this is very important for quick growth, I usually full up a bowl with water to use a s a weight
- place a towel over the strainer to keep out light
- place in a well ventilated place
3)Rinse the seeds 3 times a day, and let them drip dry
4) after 3-4 days the seeds will push up the weight and will be bean sprouts
5) when they begin to grow leaves they are done, and place in the refrigerator to halt growth.
- 1 ounce seeds, makes 1 lbs sprouts

The sprouting tray themselves measure 5.5 inches in diameter.It consists of five parts: a lid, three perforated sprouting dishes that stack neatly on top of one another, and a slightly larger bottom bowl which holds the three sprouting dishes. Sprout Master Single Sprouter Review

(More customer reviews)This is the larger size of the Sprout Master sprouter, great for larger batches of leafy sprouts or bean sprouts. The optional tray divider makes it easy to make larger batches or separate smaller sprout batches. Half of this tray still has more capacity than the whole of one of the Sprout Master small trays. If you're growing for one or two people I would recommend the "Sprout Master Mini Triple" instead. Coming with three trays the mini triple would allow you to grow a more diverse or more staggered crop.
The two "lids" that come with this tray are exactly the same. Put one below to catch any water and use the one on top if you want to block off light (this helps prevent the growth of green leaves, which is usually how bean sprouts are grown). The Sprout Master's drainage holes allow excess water to drain off very effectively.
If you've sprouted in a jar before, you'll probably find this to be much easier. Hold the tray under running cool water two or three times a day, then allow excess water to run off before putting the tray away. The sprouts should be thoroughly rinsed to prevent spoilage, kept moist at all times, but not allowed to sit in water. (By comparison, with jar sprouting you'd need to fill and drain the jar of sprouts repeatedly to rinse the sprouts well, then it's more difficult to get them properly drained.)
One minor complaint is that some of the smallest seeds can get caught in the drain holes. In my experience, broccoli is large enough to be safe, but with alfalfa or clover you might get a few seeds stuck. When you're cleaning the tray after use you may need to get a small poking instrument to knock one or two out again. The "Easy Sprouter" device doesn't have this problem, but allows slightly less light to reach your sprouts because of it's shape. Neither is a very significant complaint, and I find that the Easy Sprouter gets sufficient light for most purposes.

(More customer reviews)I like this mix a lot, it's tasty and quick to sprout - it takes about 2-3 days. However, one variety of beans is slower to sprout than the rest, so I have to keep it longer to give all beans a chance to sprout, which makes the first sprouters a little too long for my taste. Still, I'd rather use this mix than sprout all varieties separately.

Miracle Exclusives ME60 Review

(More customer reviews)I actually own the Geo Terracotta Sprouter (1/2 the price) but same concept, they look very similiar. I got my Geo Terracotta sprouter 1 year ago. It is lovely and not too big but produces a fair amount of sprouts. I use it all the time, esp. in winter during which it supplies our main source of fresh greens. It works great. The sprouts grow happily! Each tier has small holes to allow water to drain, these can get clogged when using small seeds, so I sprout on paper towels. The clay gets wet and stays wet awhile and that helps keep the seeds/sprouts moist without overwatering. The trays are harder to clean than plastic, but a toothbrush, soap, and elbow grease cleans it just fine. If seeds get stuck in the small holes you can poke them out. I soak the trays in mild bleach solution every other time I use it, then air dry to keep it sparkly clean. It has darkened a bit over the year of use but since it is untreated clay I expected that. Anyway, clay has varying levels of antimicrobial properties, helping to keep bacteria from growing on the surface of the clay. Bottom line, LOVE IT! AND BONUS - NOT PLASTIC!! (I won't sprout in anything else).
