(More customer reviews)This press is wonderful. We were able to do 500 pounds of apples into 30 gallons of cider in just 8 hours. I was sceptical about how well the press would work with as fast as we were going, but the pomace was very dry when it came out of the press. (I cooked the pomace in the steam juicer and it made great applesauce.) The press was VERY easy to clean, also. You do have to apply polyurethne after you get it, and it does not come with the wheels that are in the picture, so it is not as easy to move around as it looks. The chopper did whole apples as long as a strong teenage boy or a man was cranking. The rest of us cut the apples in half. All in all, it was well worth the cost.

(More customer reviews)was majorly confused shopping for this item, and its cost, only to be further discouraged when i went to put it together and discovered it did not have the wood included...and they do sell a MORE expensive version that has the exact same picture, that does include the wood.
should be more clear that it does NOT INCLUDE WOOD!!
(which will cost you several hundred more to get after the fact)

Sturdy bags made to fit the tub of your Jaffrey Cider, Fruit or Wine Press. You will want these for sure as you get more juice by using them. Just insert the bag into the tub and hang the excess over the sides. Grind your apples into the bag, fold over to complete the bag and put your pressing plug (plate) on top. When you apply pressure with the screw, the juice will filter out through the bag, giving you juice clear enough to drink, leaving the pomace of seeds, skins, and stems in the bag. Just empty the bag and use it over again. Wash with clear water when you're done and store for next year.

Weston Fruit and Wine Press Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Weston fruit press an was not impressed with the design. The ratchet mechanism only advances 1/4 inch per ratchet. (Does not work like the ratchet in wrenches). The stacking blocks skews when the ratchet comes in contact with stacking blocks. Having a second round wood disk that sets atop the stacking block would eliminates the skewing. If your are doing a small batch you will need additional blocks to efficiency squeeze the juice out.

Everything I needed was in there, just add water and sugar to brew. It included bottles to house my cider, pint glasses, labels for my bottles, etc. You name it, it was included. The price point was fantastic and it is an ideal kit for anyone venturing into the world of home brewing. I highly recommend it. While I bought it for cider, I can use it to make cider, beer, wine, mead, any manner of fermented beverages. In addition to being a fun process, it saves me money, and I can craft exactly the drink I want.
Any budding brewmeister would be well-served to start with this kit.

(More customer reviews)This is a well made kitchen sized press specifically purchased to press Apple Cider from ground Apples and it works perfectly. It is not recomended for pressing whole Apples, so they have to go through a grinder or food processor first. This press would work fine for whole grapes, cheeries, anything like that.
Cast iron parts, beautiful hardwood slats, tray and pressplate with a large solid screw. Comes fully assembled. It also came with a 1/2 pt. of food friendly polyurethane and even a brush to seal the wood before use.
Most excellent, beautiful little press. Great cider too! ... now if I let it go "hard" and toss in some yeast and a little extra sugar, build a still, why I could ... ya know? Can you say "Apple Jack"?

(More customer reviews)When I first got the kit I was a little skeptical because it seemed so much smaller than the huge boxes of buckets, pails, hoses, and bottles you normally need to make wine at home. But after following the easy instructions and included yeast I screwed on one of their ingenious caps and turned a small can of apple juice concentrate into a half gallon of hard cider in less than a week! Can of cider = 69 cents makes a half gallon of ready-to-drink wine. I have another 3 gallons of wine brewing right now using this kit.
