(More customer reviews)I purchased my squeezo 3 on a garage sale and used it for the first time this year. What a easy piece to work with. All metal you know it will last. All I had to do was quarter the apples and cook till soft and run them through. This worked so well, the kids even joined in. It at times would start pushing the sauce out of the scrap end, but I removed the screen and cleaned it and we started again.

The Squeezo Strainer made by Best Products today is the same as the old Garden Way Squeezo Strainer later made by Lemra Products. Made the same as it was 25-30 years ago and still made in the USA. Roma Food/Veg Strainer Review

(More customer reviews)I have used this Roma Vegetable Strainer for making apple sauce twice. Previously I have used the Victorio strainer (very nice and sturdy, but no longer available) and Back to Basics (stronger than the Roma in my opinion, but not as good as the Victorio - it had a lot of parts to lose and was not rust resistant). The Roma is easy to put together and seems to be rust resistant, but is weak, flimsy, unstable, and doesn't hold on my counter well with either the suction or the clamp.Things I like about the Roma Strainer:
* Pieces attach easily without nuts and bolts
* Seem to be rust resistant (The Back-to-Basics strainer that I bought 15 years ago had some parts that would rust)
* Plastic cone that takes the waste (seeds, core and skin) away is farther from the sauce dispenser, making it easier to have various shapes of bowls.Things I dislike about the Roma Strainer:
* The suction cup does not hold on my smooth quartz counter-top. Nice try, but it doesn't work.
* I have a bull-nose (rounded edge) to my counter-top so the clasp doesn't work very well either - it isn't long enough to reach around the bull-nose. So, it starts wiggling fairly quickly and isn't very stable, with no way to attach it more firmly.
* The handle is much harder to turn than the old Victorio (purchased 30 years ago) or Back-to-basics (purchased 16 years ago) strainers I have previously used. As I turn the handle, the vertical support seems to wobble or bend a bit, as though it isn't very strong.
* The handle seems a bit flimsy.
* Turning the handle is stiffer with more resistance than with the other strainers I have used before. (You tire more quickly.
* I have to run the waste product through 2 x as there is a lot of good applesauce that goes out with it.
The materials and workmanship are poorer quality. Some of the features (fewer parts to get lost) are nicer. Overall, though, my experience is that it is not nearly as good or as easy to use as the other strainers I have used in the past.

We borrowed a steam juicer and were able to can about 42 quarts of grape juice (along with eating a bunch and selling some). The juicer was so nice that we decided to purchase our own. This Norpro Juicer Steamer has many of the features we were looking for. Stainless steel. Good capacity. We also liked this unit because of the glass lid which allows you to know how the process is going without opening it up (one thing we didn't like with the steamer we borrowed last year). I also noticed that the handles are designed to remain cooler than the other unit - another good feature of this steamer.

(More customer reviews)I used my mothers old food press, colander, for years. Hers was a Wearever too but the quality of mine does not compare. Neither the press nor the pestle of the new version are shaped properly to ensure ease when pressing the food through and the design has changed. The newer version works okay, but I prefer the older versions design with the sturdy construction of the press and the cone shaped pestle; which helps prevent the food from coming over the top of the press.

the machine is well built, and the instructions were made designed the way you could follow them easily. most products i buy, the instructions do not have empathy for the user who must assemble and use the product.
it worked great on the tomatoes. the seeds, peels and core came out the "discard end" and the pure "pulp juice" came out the front. i processed 200 tomatoes without a problem. bang for the buck, you can't beat the production this machine will give you the tomato season

(More customer reviews)This gizmo makes the shortest work of making applesauce you ever imagined. You slice the apples, cook in a large pan with a small amount of water until they are soft. Then you push the apple mush, skins, seeds, core, stems, etc. in the top of the food grinder, and out the sieve part comes pure applesauce, out the end, comes the seeds, skin and stem. It takes maybe 10 minutes to process a 16qt pot of cooked apples.
I usually get every burner on my stove going, heat the pots of apples, process the mush into sauce, then can the lot. The canning part takes the longest.
Anyway if you can apple sauce, you need this tool.

(More customer reviews)I have made several different kinds of juice with whatever kind of fruit was ripe in the garden. I love it so much I even got fruit out of the freezer that I wanted to process but never had the time to last year. I can't wait for the grapes to be ready.
Very easy to use and the juice comes out clear and without any effort. Just fill the bottom pot with water, add the fruit to the basket, turn it on and wait an hour. Cleanup is easy as the pulp cleans up easily and each piece of the system is manageable in size and with nicly rounded corners.
I have used elderberry in the steam juicer and the tube did not stain, even though elderberry seems to stain anything it comes in contact with.
I dilute the juice concentrate with water for our breakfast juice and I know it will pay for itself in a short time.
This is a wonderful way to make healthy juice without the effort and trouble of conventional juice exctraction.

(More customer reviews)This is the best thing in the kitchen for home processing of fruits and vegetables. Bought it for tomatoes to make sauce and juice, but after reading booklet found out other uses such as raspberry juice (we use for homemade ice cream) I used to strain the berries through cheese cloth and clean pantyhose to get out seeds, but with this not only do i get clean juice but more of it as you can reprocess the "waste" several times. I would highly recommend this item. Save yourself the trouble and just buy the extra screens when you purchase the base kit.

Norpro "The Original" Sauce Master Review

(More customer reviews)I'm wondering why it never occurred to anyone else to simply put a 9x13 under their sauce master to collect the sauce. I use one of my baking pans and it holds plenty of strawberry puree for jam. It pours well into a measuring cup without a mess. So no, there isn't a problem with design here.
Also, my sister in law has another company's similar product and complains that in making sauces her's splatters off the screen very badly. Mine is perfectly clean as the sauce guard catches all of it. There is at times a problem with the discard backing up and falling into the sauce but it only happens when my children are running the machine and not paying attention. An adult should have no problem getting it to work without incident.

It's well made, solid, and beautiful. Good piece of equipment.
But don't be fooled by the picture - I think it's the low resolution of the photo that makes it look like this has a mesh screen, like a chinois.

IT did take a little longer than the instructions said, but that may be because I used a lot of fruit, or because of difference in altitides. This is a MUST for canning juice.

(More customer reviews)I have to say that I was so excited when I bought this strainer. It looked so simple, and so functional, and best of all, so affordable! Then I attempted using it...
The bag falls off the frame if you fill the bag more than about a third full, no matter how tightly you tie the strings. The reason for this is that it can't slip under the metal loop completely to grasp better because the legs of the thing come directly out of the hoop, and for intensive purposes, from the edge. There is nothing for the bag to grasp. I do larger batches of jellies, and having to slow down production this much is unacceptable.
The upshot is that the bags work. If you've already bought this, and have access to some gallon-sized glass jars (ours were originally pickle jars), you can use those and put the bag in them. It works PERFECTLY. Almost as if that was the original idea...

These little berries are very hard to juice, and with the hanging time involved (usually over night) it took at least twelve hours just to get the juice. With this steamer juicer I had pure juice in one half hour and had made the concentrate and water bath canned it in a total of one hour. I have also used the steamer juicer for stawberries, blackberries, apples, and tomatoes with wonderful results. Winemakers and home canners would be doing themselves a big favor by purchasing one of these, as the time saved and the quality of the juice will pay for the juicer in no time.
