(More customer reviews)We have had these mugs for almost a year and they have seen daily use. I LOVED them until recently. No valves to clean, no leaks, no problem! But then a month or so ago I happened to look closely at the inner rubber seal as I was washing them. I usually press the button and let warm soapy water go through the lid, as recommended, to clean them. This time I happened to notice the part of the seal that goes underneath the plastic edge when it is sealed. You can only see it when pressing the release button and looking down into the sippy hole from the top. There was black mildew all along the lip of that rubber seal. On closer inspection, I turned the lid over and looked inside and could see more underneath. I tried removing it with toothpicks, soaking it in baking soda and warm water as the Contigo site recommends, and even a brief soak in a bleach solution (not recommended, but this was my last resort). Nothing worked. The next time I filled it, I could see black particles floating in the water. Disgusting. The gasket can be removed and cleaned, which I had previously done, but there is no way that I have found to clean the inner seal. The automatic seal is great - except for the fact that it never thoroughly dries even when properly cleaned, since it is always closed unless the button is pressed. Now I'm wondering how long my child was ingesting mildew, and need to find some replacement cups. The company website says it will only replace or refund purchases made directly from their company and I don't want to pay return shipping for a partial refund through Amazon. Unless someone has a solution for this problem, I would no longer recommend these cups.

What happens when they outgrow their sippy cups but they don't outgrow spilling? How about a kids mug they can't spill even if they try? How about a mug that's cool enough for the kids, with the performance moms and dads are looking for? autoseal is cooler than a sippy cup, but impossible to spill and 100-percent leak-proof. Those are pretty bold claims, but they are what autoseal is all about. The autoseal Kids Mug is the perfect mug for your 4 to 12 year old. They may outgrow their sippy cups, but they never outgrow spilling.
